Clinical HANDBOOKS
1. The Zithulele Hospital Doctors' Handbook is a collection of protocols for the clinical management of conditions commonly encountered in a rural setting. Drawn from multiple sources, its intention is not to replace a textbook, but to be a simple go-to resource for the busy generalist in the midst of a ward round or a chaotic casualty. Feel free to download it. It is updated every year.
2. The Zithulele Hospital Rehabilitation Handbook is similarly designed as a ready resource to guide therapists through some of the practical realities of rural rehabilitation. Feel free to download and use it!

OTHER CLINICAL RESOURCES REFERRED TO IN HANDBOOKS
1. The Guidelines for the Medical Assessment of Disability for Social Assistance Purposes are really helpful when assessing patients for DG applications.
ORIENTATION MATERIALS
In addition to the Clinical Handbooks mentioned above, we put significant effort into trying to orientate new staff to the rural Eastern Cape environment. Much of the material is specific to our hospital and should NOT be used out of context, but we share it with you here, in case you'd like to adapt it to your own needs.
AUDIT PROTOCOLS HANDBOOK
The Ideal Hospital Framework requires over 50 protocols to be available in your hospital. To the best of our knowledge, no one has ever collected all of these in one place. This "audit busting" Zithulele Hospital Audit Protocols Handbook is available as a Word document for you to customise for your hospital. Please download it and follow the instructions in the Introduction section.
AUDIT RESOURCES
The following resources are required to be available as part of the Ideal Hospital Framework. They were too long to include in the Audit Protocols Handbook, so we've collected them in one place here for easy reference and download.
