Management, nursing and admin staff
Any organisation’s biggest asset is the staff who work there. From the dedicated nurses, some of whom have worked at the hospital for over 30 years, to the newly recruited professional staff and management team, to the clinical and administrative support staff, the cleaners and the ground staff, each member has a part to play in providing a quality health care service.
Management
The senior management team consists of:
Hospital Manager vacant
Nursing Services Manager Mrs N Matabese
Administration Manager Ms N Goniwe
Clinical Manager Dr CB Gaunt
Nursing staff
The faithful nursing staff are the backbone of the hospital. There are currently over 120 nurses of all categories. Although skill levels vary greatly, most of the staff are committed and enthusiastic. The main challenges are trying to fill the numerous vacancies for professional nurses and providing in-service training.
Administration staff
Administration is a huge challenge at Zithulele. Budget constraints, empty posts, distance from Mthatha and Bisho, a measure of bureaucracy and ongoing training needs are some of the challenges.
