DentistS

Our dentists have pioneered oral heath services in an area that has historically seen this area as a “luxury”. In addition to the many necessary extractions, they have focussed on prevention by targeting schools and even doing restorative work. From 2012 to 2019 we had only one dentist, but the scope of work offered has slowly expanded and now routinely includes fillings as well as the occasional prosthesis or two! With two dentists, we offer services to an ever increasing number of people.

Dr Kgomotso Lekalakala
Dentist

Kgomotso, who hails from the North West, joined us in 2019 after more than a decade in private practice in Mthatha. Having decided he'd had enough of fee-for-service, he's brought his not-inconsiderable skills to a dental department that goes from strength to strength. He's particularly interested in prosthetic dentistry, maxillofacial and oral surgery as well as oral medicine and periodontics. Away from work, he enjoys travelling, movies, music and cooking - but most especially being a handyman and the satisfaction that comes from fixing things without having to call someone else to do it!

Yolokazi, known as Yolo, graduated from the University of the Western Cape and did community service at the CHC in Dutywa. She joined us in 2020. Her dental interests are broad, including the social determinants of health as are her pastimes: "sport"!
