COMMUNITY SERVICE DOCTORS
Doing community service in a rural area can be a step into the unknown. Not only do you suddenly carry a lot more responsibility for decision making, but you must often contend with sub-optimal resources. At Zithulele we do our best to support and equip all our docs, but we are grateful for our 2019 cohort of community service docs.
Dr Sityhilelo Majaja
Sityhilelo graduated from UKZN and joins us for community service after doing internship at Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg. He's an aspiring orthopaedic surgeon, but enjoying the rural perspective for now. His commitment to healthy living is lived, not stated - he enjoys body-building and keeping fit.
Dr Nicole Chilimigras
Nicole graduated from Wits and did internship at Nelson Mandela Academic in Mthatha, before joining us for community service. She's always imagined herself as a surgeon, but also enjoys primary health care, so is currently focussed on becoming a competant generalist and will see where that leads. For now it's led to rural health, its challenges and growth opportunities and the chance to be part of a team that tries to live out its beliefs about health care.
